Active Directory and GPOs worked in the office.
But the office no longer exists.
The traditional model — domain controllers, GPOs, VPN for remote work — was designed when all devices were fixed, in one location, connected to the same network. Today, employees work from home, on the road, with different devices. GPOs can’t reach them.
The Modern Workplace removes this dependency. Devices are managed from the cloud, policies are applied over the internet, identity is the new perimeter. No servers to maintain, no VPN to configure.
No domain controllers to maintain, replicate or protect. Identity lives in Entra ID, devices are managed by Intune.
Devices are managed from the cloud: in the office, at home, on the road. No VPN needed, no dependency on the corporate network.
A new PC is operational in under 30 minutes. Autopilot configures the device, Intune applies policies, apps install automatically.
The compliance status of every device is monitored in real time. If an endpoint doesn't meet policies, access to corporate data is revoked.
